Day 31: The Day of the Deaf

Colin:
We got up a bit later than usual and went to have breakfast in the hotel.
Risking the good opinion of our fellow guests we took full advantage of the included continental breakfast.
As we had decided to do two short days rather than a full rest day we moodled until finally hitting the road around 10:40.
Despite the late start and fueled by more than our fair share of continental breakfast we made great progress heading southeast. Having the winds to our backs certainly did not hurt.
Early in the afternoon we crossed a river and the incredibly flat farmland of the previous several dayd began to give way to rolling hills and even small forests.
We began to think about a campsite around 4, and headed to marshalltown where the riverside park sounded appealing.
After a nice conversation with an elderly couple at a dairy queen we headed to the campsite.
Apparently we were sharing the park for the evening with a convention of sorts for the iowa association of the deaf. This led to a couple of interrsting miscommunications, though it also meant that despite being crowded the park was quiet enough for a good nights sleep.

98 miles

2059 total miles.
