Day 19: Bye Bye Billings

Colin:
We left Reed Point with the goal of reaching Billings and reassessing.
Strong tailwinds meant we covered the 59 miles to the center of town well before noon.
We decided to treat ourselves to a lunch at Starbucks and we each had gift cards (thanks Uncle Ron & Aunt Sue as well as Telesis) and to a dinner from Chipotle for the same reason.
As I had caught a flat since entering the city, we left our bikes at Collin's Bike Shop while he replaced my tube and we ran those errands. We bought more replacement tubes and another patch kit and headed to the post office to mail home gear we werent using for the second time.
Having decided to push on another 50 miles to Hardin, we headed out of town. Before getting there I had caught another flat and removed another piece of wire from my tire. Getting out of town well after 2pm with 50 miles to cover was stressful enough, and that feeling was compounded as we had some pretty significant hills in the first 20 miles.
After that it was mostly downhill but that hardly mattered. The increased tailwinds had us cruising over the plains between 20 and 35 miles an hour pretty much all of the way to Hardin.
We made camp and read up on the Battle of Little Bighorn in anticipation of our trip to the battlefield the next day.

109 miles.
1064 miles total.
