Day 17: Drenched Continental Divide

Colin:

We donned all of our rain gear for the first time to leave Butte and tackle the Continental Divide.
Though it was cold and rainy the climb was not terrible and we were over the pass and headed along a river valley towards Bozeman.
It wad rainy and overcast for most of the day and I had to stop by a gas station to pick up a pair of work gloves that were a bit warmer than what I had brought.
We pushed along east, eventually passing through the deep canyon which includes the Lewis and Clark caverns.
Eventually we reemerged and rolled through farmland and ranches as the weather began to clear.
After a short break at Wheat Montana for hot drinks and some lunch, we pressed on towards Bozeman. The town itself sits in a gap between two huge ridges and so it was easy to guage our progress as we approached the city.

We pulled into the house where we would be staying with a pair of my moms college friends, Kathy and Rick. They treated us to a great, and embarassingly large meal at a local brewery followed by a tour of the cute college town.

89 miles.

871 miles total.
